Abstract:
Driving Value through Geophysical Innovation: Seismic Imaging Solutions from Exploration to Production
Zack Lawrence
At ExxonMobil, integration and innovation are enhancing the value derived from state-of-the-art geophysics. This presentation will showcase recent examples of how geophysics is employed to address imaging and interpretation challenges in deepwater basins globally. In the complex salt basins of the Eastern Mediterranean, a multi-disciplinary team of geophysicists conducted a survey design study to develop innovative and cost-effective acquisition solutions (Donaldson et al., 2024). Geophysical innovation continues even after a field enters development. Since production began in Guyana in 2019, multiple 4D seismic campaigns have been conducted to inform reservoir management and development drilling. The Guyana 4D seismic program represents the culmination of a 40-year journey in time-lapse seismic imaging at ExxonMobil across various fields (Helgerud, 2024).
