Dinosaur Valley State Park

Come out for a day trip to see the amazing dinosaur track sites! For the more adventurous, we have also reserved a group campsite for Friday and Saturday night for those looking to explore the park further. We will also be hosting a children's scavenger hunt and other family-friendly events!

Event Logistics

• Optional group camping available for Friday and Saturday night (Limit 20 people). Tent-only.

  • Check in at 2pm on Friday (or later is ok), and check-out by noon on Sunday

• Guests can book their own campsites (if available).

  • Campsite reservations should be made 1-3 months in advance as spots fill up fast.

• Field trip only option available for guests that want to join Saturday for the event only and see the park for the day.

  • Field Trip portion will begin at 11am near the Paluxy River Nature Trail parking lot

  • Participants must provide a vehicle and headcount of adults and children for parking accommodations.

  • Registration is required one month prior to the event so the park can plan for the number of guests; no walk-ins allowed.

  • Guests will need to bring their own bagged lunch/cooler - basic water and snacks will be provided at the group campsite

• Registration fee is to cover materials, camping fees, and day passes.

  • It costs $8 per adult for a day pass, children 12 and under are free.

• Dogs are allowed if on a 6-ft leash, have proof of vaccination, and are generally well-behaved.

Event Highlights

• Friday and Saturday night group tent camping!

  • Fun for the whole family with star watching, s'mores, and nerding out about rocks.

• Saturday event to view the dinosaur track sites and discuss the local outcrops

  • We hope the track sites will be viewable, but will have plans if they are covered by water!

  • Camping and the event will run no matter what, rain or shine!

• Bring a bagged lunch for Saturday to enjoy on the trail

• Children's scavenger hunt for those 12 and under with dinosaur-themed prizes to take place during the field trip

• Hiking along the beautiful Paluxy River

• Free fishing from the State Park shorelines

• Nearby Dinosaur World (great for children and families!) and rock shops

• Nearby hotels available to those who do not wish to camp

• Only 1 hour from Fort Worth!
